Great showing at the BH Invy over the weekend despite the freezing cold / windy weather!
Varsity boys placed 5th out of 74 teams (in the merge) being beat by Arlington, Burnt-Hills, Queensbury and (narrowly) Niskayuna. They also beat three state ranked teams, Victor, Monroe-Woodbury and Hilton - so hopefully we should be back into the top 25 this week! In the Varsity race Coy, Doyle & Park PR'd. Coy's 9th place finish and new time of 15:44 places him 8th all time between Dieter Drake (15:36) and Justin Wager (15:46).
In the JV race our boys placed 3rd, packing nicely behind Arlington & Queensbury. They defeated Burnt-Hills among other notable teams with 98 points and a 28 second 5 man spread. In a great effort, 14 of 15 JV boys PR'd while many missed the race due to PSAT's. 12 Dutchmen earned Varsity Points today, and Chris Whalen became the first JV boy to earn a Varsity letter. Several others are now very close! (Congrats also to Chris on being accepted to SUNY Maritime this week!!)
Last but not least! Our Frosh boys finished 2nd in a close race against Burnt Hills and Colonie. Burnt Hills nipped us 59 to 65 despite us packing 5 runners in before their 4th man. Our 53 second 5 man spread was just a little too loose to squeeze out the victory, but these boys are showing great potential and they have exhibited a tremendous work ethic!
I am extremely excited for our dual meet against Colonie & Columbia tomorrow - we can lock up the S. Division with a victory against either (or both) of those teams. We need to stay healthy these next few weeks and as we touch on speed I am confident that these boys will continue to improve their performances. Stay tuned!
